Dick Johnson Racing is searching for a Lead Race Mechanic as it prepares for the Gen3 era in the Repco Supercars Championship.

The Lead Race Mechanic will be a vital part of the race mechanic team and will be assisting with all preparation, servicing, and setup of the Shell V-Power Racing Team’s Gen3 Ford Mustangs to the highest standard.

The role is a rare opportunity to hold a leading position with DJR, one of the most storied outfits in Australian Touring Car Championship and modern-day Supercars history.

The pedigree of the squad is unquestioned with the outfit claiming 10 drivers’ championships and three teams’ championships since 1980.

Dick Johnson Racing Team Principal Ben Croke said it is an exciting time to join the organisation.

“We’re looking for a lead mechanic, or number one mechanic as it’s called these days, to work on the Shell V-Power Racing Team Gen3 Ford Mustangs,” Croke said.

“We’re looking for someone that’s dedicated, enthusiastic, with a really strong work ethic, and high attention to detail.

“It’s an exciting time to come into the sport with the introduction of the Gen3 platform.”

Croke said the role provides an opportunity to learn and grow.

“It is an opportunity to work with a world-class engineering team,” he added.

“There’s a really good mix of young, enthusiastic team members, as well as a lot of senior, experienced staff for the successful applicant to learn from.”

Croke said DJR will be looking to continue its success, under the new Gen3 regulations.

“We’ve been one of the leading teams in the championship over the last five to six years, finishing in the top two in the teams’ championship for the last five years,” he added.

“We will be looking to build on that success in the Gen3 era.”

The successful applicant will contribute to the future success of the squad and will play a vital role at both the racetrack and Stapylton base.

The applicant will also be part of the pit crew during race events.

There is also the opportunity for leadership roles in the workshop over time for the right person.

Experience in the Repco Supercars Championship or other high-level motorsport series is essential.
