Chief Mechanic

About Us

Altatek Racing is seeking a highly motivated chief mechanic to join its up-and-coming race team. We specialise in the preparation and development of Formula Ford vehicles to compete at both state and national levels as well as Radical track days and other exciting projects.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the preparation, maintenance, setup and running of vehicles in Altatek’s racing stable with a performance and results driven mindset. The successful candidate will work independently to ensure that the highest standards of vehicle preparation are maintained within the fast-paced environment of a race team.

Experience in motorsport is essential; experience with Formula Ford vehicles is an advantage but not necessary for the right applicant.

Flexibility to travel to all local and interstate race and test events is essential.

About You

To excel in this role, you should possess the following attributes:

• A high level of mechanical knowledge with experience in the motorsport industry
• Ability to build and setup race cars to setup specifications
• Eye for detail, identifying and rectifying any reliability issues
• The ability to work independently following car preparation lists methodically and consistently to meet deadlines
• A proven ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, with a demonstrated ability to solve problems under pressure
• Strong communication, time management and organisational skills
• Willingness to promote teamwork, managing and mentoring other mechanics within the team
• Be fit and healthy with the ability to safely lift heavy items and assist in loading the race cars, tools, and spare parts into the transporter

Other attributes that are beneficial but not essential include:

• Experience in a leadership role
• Trade qualification in motorsport technology, automotive engineering or other relevant area
• A valid heavy rigid vehicle license

Please note to be considered for this position you must be an Australian citizen/resident or hold a valid long term working visa and hold a valid driver’s license.

The total salary package will be negotiable and will be based on qualifications and experience.
