McElrea Racing is recruiting for a race mechanic to join the team

McElrea Racing is recruiting for an experienced race mechanic to join the team.

One of Australia’s most successful race teams, McElrea Racing currently fields entries in Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup and Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge, as well as Porsche Carrera Cup North America in the United States of America.

The Yatala-based team is seeking a full-time mechanic to work on its Porsche programme in Australia, with the successful applicant for the role to be responsible for all aspects of race car preparation and set-up, while travel will be required to all race events and test days around Australia.

It is preferred that candidates for the role have a trade qualification in automotive engineering as well as experience in motorsport, while those with previous Porsche experience would be at an advantage.

McElrea Racing Team Manager Leigh Geyer said the role presents a prime opportunity to join a successful team.

“The candidate will be responsible for working on our Porsche 991 and 992 cars in Carrera Cup and Sprint Challenge,” Geyer said.

“Obviously we have been competitive over the years, managing to win several Drivers’ and Teams’ Championships in Carrera Cup and Sprint Challenge.

“McElrea Racing is a great place to work, most of our staff have been here for several years, our contractors have been with us since we started.

“We’ve tried to look after our staff and have a little bit of fun, but we are serious when it comes to racing and obviously our results do speak for themselves.”

Geyer said the role provides excellent growth opportunities.

“It is an exciting time to join the team, following our recent expansion into America,” he added.

“It means that there are opportunities to not only work here but also work over with the American race team.

“This would be a great opportunity for someone on the younger scale that is keen, enthusiastic and expand their skills along the way.”

The salary for the role is negotiable on employment, with previous experience a critical factor.

To be considered for this position you must be an Australian citizen, or hold an Australian work visa along with a valid drivers licence.
