Sonic searching for talented race mechanics

Sonic Motor Racing Services is on the lookout for motivated race mechanics to join its highly-successful team.

The leading Australian outfit is seeking suitably qualified mechanics to join the team as it competes in the Australian Formula Ford Championship, Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia Series as well as the Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia Championship.

Based at the team’s Bayswater location in Victoria, the full-time positions will see the successful applicants responsible for all aspects of race car preparation, repairs and set-up, with the role to include travelling to race events and test days.

Significant experience in motorsport is preferred, while trade qualifications as a mechanic are required.

Sonic Motor Racing Services Founder, Michael Ritter, said it is an exciting time to join the team.

“Our programmes across everything we do are expanding heading into 2023.”

“We’ve got some opportunities for mechanics to join our team across all our categories, including Formula Ford and our Porsche programmes.”

Ritter said there will be the opportunity to work across different areas as part of the role.

“Potentially there’s an opportunity for crossover as well; you might not necessarily be restricted to just the one programme. We like to give out advice and experience across different cars and different series, so there are some possibilities there,” he added.

Ritter explained that the team is recruiting for enthusiastic, hard-working individuals to join its ranks.

“We’re after people who are driven, passionate about motorsport, and more than anything want to win,” he stated.

“We’re driven to win races, win championships and develop young talent.

“At the same time, we also have a family-type atmosphere here. We’ve got very loyal long-serving people that have been with us for many years.

“There’s a good opportunity for people here to build into a role and in time, you could build that into a leadership role within the team.

“It can be a pretty rewarding place to be.”
